    Angel's Advocate: Off The Shelf

    Share

Bree Winston-Beaufort, Esq. is back with her dual law firm, dealing with earthly and spiritual courts. In Angel’s Advocate, she tackles two cases—this time in the same family. For one, she tries to defend snooty teenager Lindsey Chandler when she knocks down a Girl Scout and steals the child’s cookie money! Then there is the case of Probert Chandler, Lindsey’s father, who died under suspicious circumstances and is pleading for a reopening of the celestial case that would doom him to the most severe punishment possible for a ninth-circle-of-hell crime. Complicating two difficult cases are the return of an old crush, a testy police detective, and two souls who have breached the barrier between worlds and mean to do Bree harm. The intrepid lawyer must cope with her own emotions and fears but is aided by her angelic staff at Beaufort & Company—the law office no one can find—her loyal, angelic dog Sasha, and two gigantic hounds who would scare even demons from the underworld (and that’s the point!).

Author Mary Stanton has certainly created a fresh new look at the legal system, basing it on not only ordinary civil and criminal cases, but also celestial law, which is far more complex than any canon law question could ever be. She has fashioned very likable helpers to aid Bree in her work, both human and canine. Angel’s Advocate is a sure-fire winner and will keep you turning the pages long past when you should be turning out the light.

Currently, Mary Stanton is working on her next installment in this remarkable mystery series, Winged Justice. I know that fans like myself will be waiting on the edges of our seats for more of Bree Winston-Beaufort and her wonderful legal angels.

    2. Defending Angels

“Intriguing and wholly different and original. I was hooked from page one. Defending Angels is at once charming, erudite and chilling. This book should give Mary Stanton the same kind of cult following usually reserved for Charlaine Harris!”
